The Boy Who Ate Ice Cream

This is Lion. That is literally his name. In Russian anyway.
He is the son of an amazing Russian photographer Maria Patsan (@Maria_patsan).
Before seeing Maria’s work, I had never seen anyone eat ice cream from a cone with a spoon, yet alone with the ice cream cone, then also and as well - in a bowl! Suffice it to say, I was totally blown away and knew that I wanted to paint that photograph. Spending so much time doing this piece, I also became intrigued by the rebelliousness of the situation along with the practicality.
It also left me with a deep sense of curiosity as he glances off to his right. What has his attention so that he would pause mid-scoop?
What is he looking at that could keep him from his treat?
