This is Jordan.
Jordan is a quirky, creative, expressive, talented tattoo artist here in Houston. She also battled cancer and whipped its ass.
When working on this piece, Jordan had told me that she had no problem if I featured the chemotherapy port scar she carried on her upper chest. And I realized that she was proud of everything she had gone through and that it made her stronger for the wear.
For me there is no better metaphor for survival than making it through a shipwreck. The hull of the ship says “USS Jordan” because sometimes life is like a ship and at times the waters are calm but many times they are choppy and violent and unpredictable.
Yet, through it all, it seemed Jordan faced it with the same tenacity and rambunctious spirit. I feel like the shirt says it all.
She is a treasure.
Like the kind you find at the end of a rainbow.
